When we’re not busying ourselves with the buses (coaches, really, but everyone likes a little alliteration), we love to make the most of what Brighton has to offer. With the sun shining down on us this week, here’s what we’re getting up to…
- Street Diner
Brightening our lunches, Street Diner is a weekly street food market which you can find in the Brighthelm Garden (Queens Road) every Friday from 11am-3pm. Salivate over foods exotic and local with a rainbow of flavours from Italy, Mexico, Spain, Asia, India and the Middle East – with plenty of local artisan pies and cakes too! With an emphasis on seasonality and local sourcing, the Street Diner is a wonderful way to try a new taste without racking up the miles on your carbon footprint. Local music adds a true festival feel, and the perfect excuse to start the weekend a little early!
- Makers Boutique
On the first Saturday of each month (8th of June in this case), Brighton’s favourite Arts & Crafts market gathers in the Unitarian Church on New Road. With around 30 stalls crammed with tasty creative treats, expect to find original arts, prints, fashion, photography and all sorts of hand-crafted goodies from a collective of local makers. The excellent tea-room boasts ‘the best Earl Grey in Brighton’ and provides a wonderful atmosphere in which to reflect upon your purchases!
- Krater Komedy Klub at the Komedia
Award winning comedy every single Friday, this strictly 18+ show starts at 8pm and is extremely popular so make sure you get there early! The venue entices famous comedians from far and wide; John Maloney is headlining this week but the line-up changes from week to week, offering the chance to see your favourite comics up close and personal. There’s a great value ‘meal deal’ too, incorporating a reduced entry ticket with a main course and side or dessert. Eat and laugh until your sides hurt, what better way to see in the weekend?!
We’ll be back with more in the coming weeks to help you get the most out of our (mostly) sunny City by the Sea – and we’d love to hear your suggestions, too!
