A Summer of Coaches for School Trips!

May 31st, 2013 in category Sussex Coach Hire

Summer’s arrived, and hand-in-hand with the sun comes the season of school trips! It probably comes as little surprise that at this time of year many of our coaches are busy bussing schools from far and wide to a huge range of exciting locations. For schools, coach trips are clearly an invaluable tool in organising out-of-the-classroom education; all our drivers are CRB checked and the office staff here at RDH are always happy to help suggest an exciting new trip or location – we’ve seen them all! Here are some of our favourites, have you given them all a try?

Drusillas Park Zoo

A firm favourite with schools and families alike, Drusillas is a fun, friendly and extremely interactive zoo in East Sussex. The animals range from tiny mice to the most flamboyant of flamingos, with weird and wonderful creatures from all over the globe. The creative walk-through exhibits allow you to get up close with pandas, fruit bats and boa constrictors alike, and the scheduled feeding-times give a great insight into the care that would usually happen behind the scenes! With sporting challenges and quizzes en route, and a genuinely incredible play-park we guarantee you’ll have some extremely worn out wannbe Zookeepers after a day at Drusillas!

Newhaven Fort

Maybe the ideal combination of education and excitement, this historic site offers sinister, echoing tunnels burrowing deep into the Newhaven cliffs, breath-taking coastal gun ramparts and a Blitz shelter simulation to really bring the past to life. Newhaven Fort had a pivotal role in WW1 and WW2, so there’s a wealth of history to explore. The hands-on experience investigates war-time life from many angles; inspect an officer’s kit, get behind the desks in the old school room, or learn how to “do your part” on the home front.. Newhaven is more than happy to tailor your trip to fit the curriculum, you only need to ask!

Over the next week we’ll suggest some more of our favourite school trip destinations; in the meantime, have you been to Amberley Working Museum? Or maybe Bodiam Castle?
